Mobile Developer - Android

Eastwood have an exciting contract opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Android Developer to work on a ground breaking digital product for one of our clients. This project embraces the latest tools and technologies to create an experience that will positively impact a large audience.

The app is a key customer touchpoint for a health and fitness platform. The interface has been thoughtfully designed encompassing feedback from a real world trial held earlier this year.

You’ll be working closely with our design team and supported by a technical product manager and technical director. Ultimately though you’ll be tasked to work autonomously to build this app giving you great ownership of the final product.

Responsibilities

  • Build a native app for the Android platform using Kotlin
  • Use Near Field Communication (NFC) tags as a way to authenticate users
  • Work with outside data sources and APIs
  • Produce fully functional mobile application writing clean code
  • Use a continuous build and testing system (ie. Hockey App) to publish prototypes during the development process.

Requirements

  • Proven software development experience and solid skills in developing Android apps.
  • Proven experience creating, testing and deploying Android apps
  • Extensive experience with the Android SDK
  • Appreciation of good UX and UI design adhering to Android’s Design Guidelines and Material Design philosophies
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON and third-party libraries and APIs
  • Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
  • Self driven and comfortable working independently in a remote work environment
  • Experience using version control (Git) and project/issues tracking systems such as JIRA and Asana

Nice to haves

  • Basic Laravel (PHP framework) understanding (which is the technology used for the server & API)
  • Experience with Figma (design tool), Slack (communication tool) and Height (project tracking system)

Specifics

  • Contract length is initially 3 months with potential to extend. Immediate commencement.
  • Fully remote position available to Australia and New Zealand residents
  • Must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and have relevant insurances and WorkCover

Mobile Developer - iOS

Eastwood have an exciting contract opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic iOS Developer to work on a ground breaking digital product for one of our clients. This project embraces the latest tools and technologies to create an experience that will positively impact a large audience.

The app is a key customer touchpoint for a health and fitness platform. The interface has been thoughtfully designed encompassing feedback from a real world trial held earlier this year. The real world trial utilised a native iOS app built in Swift UI. You’ll leverage and extend this codebase.

You’ll be working closely with our design team and supported by a technical product manager and technical director. Ultimately though you’ll be tasked to work autonomously to build this app giving you great ownership of the final product.

  • Build a native app for the iOS platform using Swift and Swift UI
  • Use Near Field Communication (NFC) tags as a way to authenticate users
  • Work with outside data sources and APIs
  • Produce fully functional mobile applications writing clean code
  • Use TestFlight to publish prototypes at the conclusion of sprints.

Requirements

  • Proven software development experience and skills in iOS development
  • Experience with iOS SDK and Xcode creating, testing and deploying iOS apps written in Swift and Swift UI
  • Appreciation of good UX and UI design adhering to Apple’s Human InterfaceGuidelines (HIG)
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON and third-party libraries and APIs
  • Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies

Front End Developer

We’re currently on the lookout for a talented front-end developer with awesome JavaScript, HTML & CSS skills to join our team on a contract basis. Your job will see you working closely with our dev team and our UX/UI designers to create elegant user interfaces and layouts.

Core Skills

  • Build pixel-perfect, responsive, browser-compliant UI using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with modern JavaScript front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js).
  • Fluency with version control and Git
  • Experience with UI build environments (e.g. Grunt, Gulp, Webpack)
  • An understanding of accessibility standards.
  • Willingness to learn new frameworks and technologies.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Experience with Marvel, Sketch and/or Photoshop.

Bonus

  • Experience with Craft/Laravel/PHP.

Location

  • Our team is based in Melbourne and all work remote (and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future)
  • The position is remote with location flexible.
  • Ideally you live in a timezone that allows for realtime collaboration with our team

Term

  • This is a contract position for a minimum 3 month term with the possibility to extend.
