With screen time rising, we partnered with Athletics Australia to get kids moving through a fun initiative that blends both the physical and digital worlds.

Introducing ActiveBands—a personalised mobile app, avatar and wrist band, where kids 'tap-on' each day to convert their real-world activity into fun digital rewards.

Designing the system

We created ActiveBands from the ground up. From system architecture, cloud server and administration portal to brand, UX, User Interface and App development.

Adventure Buddy

Central to kids engagement is the Adventure Buddy – a glowing energy-bean, that's inspired by the iconic Tamagotchi. Kids keep their Buddy charged by recording daily activity, which converts to Energy-points.

Personalised power-ups

To keep kids motivated, we created a fun set of collectible power-ups. As they reach point collection milestones, kids can unlock and add power-ups to their Adventure Buddy, allowing for the creation of weird and wonderful customisations.

Milestone Awards

To celebrate special milestones and activity streaks, we created a set of Award Badges. Kids are challenged to collect them all and complete their virtual trophy cabinet.

A Journey through worlds

For long-term engagement, new levels are activated upon reaching large Energy-point milestones. Each level is themed and unlocks a variety of new collectibles and fun adventures.
