Proudly positioned as one of the ‘Big 4’ Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the AusOpen attracts over 850,000 local and International fans to Melbourne Park each year.
Working with Tennis Australia’s content and media team, we developed a range of playful digital activations that brought the AusOpen’s digital channels to life around the grounds.
We designed a flowing outdoor space where people wander through to meet, rest and engage. The area enabled fans to organically discover a world of fan-based media and fun activations.
In a world first, we beamed live 360 degree court-side footage from Rod Laver Arena to the Garden Square activation space. Allowing fans to feel the electric atmosphere at the Open's most exclusive access point.
With Apple's release of custom keyboards to iPhones, we devised a set of AO themed emoji characters. Fans were fed codes to unlock new emoji's via the AusOpen's social channels. At the event, kids entered an emoji drawing competition, with the best ideas added to the keyboard.
A fun space made for fans to record and share a video of themselves recreating one of the great primetime tennis traditions – signing the camera lens post match.
